Fall Splendor

I took these photos on a day trip to the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvainia a few weeks ago. Oriah, in her book, The Dance, explains that we all have a place we need to go when we need to renew our souls. For her it is the Canadian wilderness, for me it is the east coast mountains.
When I drive there and the mountains become visiable, I feel as if I am driving home. The beauty of the trees, the higher horizon, and the cleaner air all call to me. It takes me about an hour and a half to get there which is just long enough to give me plenty of time to think, and short enough for me to be able to do there and back in a day.
When I am really fortunate, I get to stay overnight. I wonder around in the little town of Jim Thorpe with the dimming light taking pictures of the shop lights as they come on.
When I drive home I feel refreshed and at peace!
Do you have a place you can go to renew? If not you need one... if so... go there frequently. We all know what we really need inside, we just have to care enough about ourselves to give it. When we care about and take good care of us, we retain the energy and stamina needed to get through the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. And we have something to give to the people in our lives.
Find it! Go there!
