Faithlessness

Are you true to yourself first above all? If you are not, then you can't really be true to anyone else either! Will you break agreements you have made with someone else if you find you betraying yourself? I did not understand this quote from Oriah in her book, The Dance for a long time. I had to mull over this quote for months before it sung in, before I realized that one number one person to be true to in this life is ourselves and yet day after day we will continue to sell our selves out for what we think we want.

What is it that you want? More money, a better relationship? Is a better job important to us? Is how other people see us important to us?

I believe what we all want more then anything else is true love and security in our lives. I for one will give up my dream of wonderful vacations, a huge house, and fame for this one solid, precious possession.

I can break agreements I have made to others if they will cause me to betray myself. I can look the devil that tempted Jesus right in the face and say, "NO, I do not want what you have to give me!".

But can I give up myself for others? That is the real question... because once I find that I can be true to myself, I will be required to give that self up.

More on that later... have peace today!
